Suspects in Dino Melaye gun case escape from police custody Police in Lokoja said on Wednesday that the two suspects that named Sen. Dino Melaye as the supplier of guns to them had escaped from custody. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Ali Janga, disclosed this at a press conference in Lokoja. Janga said that the two suspects, Kabiru Seidu alias Osama and Nuhu Salisu alias Small, escaped at about 3:21 a.m. at the A Police Division in Lokoja where they were being kept in lawful custody. According to him, four other suspects escaped along with Seidu and Salisu, bringing the total number of fleeing suspects to six. He said both Seidu and Salisu escaped on Wednesday when they were supposed to be arraigned before a Lokoja Federal High Court alongside Melaye and Mr Mohammed Audu who was also named by the suspects as their sponsor. The commissioner identified Aliyu Isa , Adams Suleiman, Emmanuel Audu and Musa Mohammed as four other suspects that escaped from custody.

Warriors guard Stephen Curry will miss the final 10 regular-season games and possibly the opening of the playoffs, the team announced Saturday after an MRI confirmed a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee. Curry was injured in Friday’s night victory over Atlanta when teammate JaVale McGee tumbled into him. The Warriors ruled Curry out for at least three weeks, which marks the same day the NBA playoffs start (April 14). The Warriors will have clarity on Curry’s postseason availability when they reevaluate him then, but he could return as early as in the first round. “You also keep it in perspective,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said before the results were available. “It could be a lot worse.”

Thomas Tuchel has held talks over replacing Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager, Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus has confirmed. Reports in Germany have claimed former Borussia Dortmund boss Tuchel has rejected an offer from Bayern to succeed Jupp Heynckes at the end of the season. It is claimed the 44-year-old expects to become the new Arsenal manager, although Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested in him as a replacement for Unai Emery. The Federal Government has taken a swipe at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following the release of the Dapchi schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram terrorists. Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, faulted the party’s reaction to the girls’ release on Thursday in a statement by his media aide, Segun Adeyemi. The abducted girls regained freedom on Wednesday, more than four weeks after the insurgents invaded the Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi, in Yobe State. Of the 110 girls snatched by Boko Haram on February 19, the government said 104 were returned by the terrorists with six unaccounted for. In its reaction, the PDP accused the Federal Government and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of ‘scripting’ the abduction of the schoolgirls. The party had also called on the United Nations and the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate the incident, which it said was a scripted drama by the APC in the bid to seek re-election in 2019.
