Belgian boy Laurent Simons heads off to university aged 8

Image
A Belgian boy has graduated secondary school aged eight after completing six years' study in just a year and a half. Laurent Simons, whose father is Belgian and mother Dutch, and has an IQ of 145 according to his parents, collected a diploma with a class of 18-year-olds. Speaking to Belgium's RTBF radio, Laurent said his favourite subject was maths "because it's so vast, there's statistics, geometry, algebra". After a two-month holiday from school, he will start university. His father said his son had struggled when he was younger to play with other children, and had not been particularly interested in toys. Laurent said he had considered becoming a surgeon and an astronaut but was now thinking about going into computers. "If he decided tomorrow to become a carpenter, that would not be a problem for us, as long as he is happy," his father said. Fashion LED Light Up Shoes For Toddler - Black

🇫🇷Mbappe Masterclass Sends Messi & Argentina packing Kylian Mbappe upstaged Lionel Messi as France recorded a 4-3 win over Argentina in a topsy-turvy last-16 clash to open the knockout stages at the World Cup. Teenager Mbappe was in devastating form in the heavyweight clash in Kazan, scoring two second-half goals to bring Argentina's tumultuous campaign in Russia to an end. The Paris Saint-Germain forward's surging 70-yard burst also led to the opener after 13 minutes, Antoine Griezmann slotting home from the penalty spot after Mbappe had been hauled down by Marcos Rojo. Yet Argentina turned the game around to go ahead, Angel Di Maria's stunning long-range strike before the break followed by Gabriel Mercado's fortuitous effort early in the second half. However, Benjamin Pavard matched Di Maria's effort with an outstanding equaliser in the 57th minute before Mbappe took centre stage, securing Didier Deschamps' side a place in the quarter-finals...

Image
Neymar is not worth the €222 million (£200m/$262m) Paris Saint-Germain paid to sign him, the star himself says. The 26-year-old feels PSG paid over the odds for him, but says he has always wanted to be seen as a "special" player. "I'm not proud of the transfer fee, nor of the fact I'm the most expensive player ever," he said. "That's just money and nothing else. I cannot help it. Personally, I would have paid less for myself. I always wanted to be special. That was my goal very early - actually from the moment I started playing football for a club. That was at the age of 11. It may sound clumsy, but from then on I've tried to get better every single day and get to my best." Johnson, a first-time nonviolent drug offender who'd been serving a life sentence since 1996, was freed from prison last week after President Donald Trump commuted her sentence. That commutation came just days after Kardashian West, who said she became interested in Johnson after seeing a story about her months ago on Twitter, pleaded Johnson's case to Trump in the Oval Office. Dele Alli Promises Best Behaviour At the World Cup

Image
Dele Alli has promised to not fall foul of new FIFA regulations at the World Cup which allow referees to punish players retrospectively for infringements during a match. The new rules, backed by Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology, could lead to players being punished at the interval for foul play that went unnoticed during the first half. Alli, who has come under scrutiny for previous incidents at Tottenham, remains confident he will avoid letting his temper get the better of him in Russia. "When you're playing the games, you are focused on trying to help the team as much as you can," he said. "You don't want to put yourself in a position where you could jeopardise everything and lose the game for your team and your country. I'll just be myself, the way I always am."

Declaring Abiola As President Will Do Justice To Nigeria’s History – Falana

Image
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria has joined voices with opinion leaders calling on the Federal Government to declare Moshood Abiola as Nigeria’s former President. Abiola is the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993, presidential election Femi Falana, who was a guest on Channels Television’s political programme on Sunday, also commended the Federal Government for conferring a posthumous national award of the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) on Abiola. He noted that this development is a starting point for the government. “I do hope like the Senate did resolve that the results of the June 12 election should be officially announced so that the actual winner is proclaimed. Reacting to claims that the June 12 declaration as Democracy Day was merely a means to sway the people of the south-west region, Falana said such comments reduce the significance of the day. The human rights activist explained that the June 12 struggle was a pan-Nigerian mandate.

Kevin Durant found his steady stroke to score 26 points to go with nine rebounds and seven assists while also handling a load of the defensive assignment against LeBron James. James followed up his 51-point performance in Game 1 with 29 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds in a far tamer finals sequel minus the utter craziness of a drama-packed opener three days prior.
